Place-Based learning

Learning and across Boroughs: a network for doing

  1. Reimagine learning and classroom locations. Step Up Education Initiative (STEDI) proposes a network of shared community spaces for learning and civic service. Managed by an app or POS smart card, these high tech, healthy and green STEDI™ locations steer educators and youth to places where they can explore and learn about climate change. Lesson plans, maps, photo uploads, reviews, transit, admission - even a lunch voucher could be included with a tap or swipe. Customers include: local education and employment agencies; families in urban-suburban and underserved communities; independent professionals; residents and retirees.

the stedi mindset: plan ahead. invest now.

The STEDI™ mindset invigorates neighborhoods with planned investment. We know COVID cost everyone: The $1 trillion Infrastructure Act, and previous ESSER, GREER provided more than $122 billion for reopening and redress of massive learning loss from the Covid-19 global pandemic. $1 billion in RAISE discretionary grants were also allocated. Adopt a sustainable mindset. Public engagement is vital. If the burden of climate change is on the people, then the public needs to be informed. Capital sources include: urban renewal initiatives; sustainable energy programs; SBA and alternative loans, start-up grants, equity partnerships, private equity.

market focus: City agencies, retail

A network of STEDI™ centers and resources can be developed in any community. STEDI™ POS smart cards for students, educators and the public can grow to offer a clearinghouse of climate-action entities: non-profits, field experiences, parks, excursions, museums, workshops, camps, workforce training, jobs, internships, education opportunities, consumer programs and business incentives. Resources can be accessed efficiently with a QR code or app. Traffic and usage is tracked (with permission) through GIS. Additional customers include: municipalities, state employment agencies, and small business associations with a need to offer climate-friendly resources for independent professionals, consultants, business owners, residents and retirees. The public will engage with a more climate-friendly lifestyle if we make it easy to do.
